I wasn’t always into doing my own nails. However, it’s something that has really grown on me lately. I prefer gel nail polish because it lasts longer, and I like the extra effort you have to put into doing them. It’s quite relaxing to me. Recently, a friend asked me if I’ve ever tried stick on gel polish, to which my answer was “no.” So, I decided to give it a shot with the Modi Gel Nail Design Tips! You can buy theses in stores at Aritaum or online at YesStyle (Googling where to buy them online could also work well. Just type in “Modi Gel Nail Design Tips”).
This is a rough translation of the directions on the packaging:
- Prepare nails by cutting and shaping them and remove the moisture/oil from them (DONT’ BUFF THE TOPS LIKE YOU DO WHEN APPLYING GEL NAIL POLISH)
- Select the nail tip and size that works for your nails
- Remove the transparent protective film
- Detach gel nail tip from the transparent film
- Attach the nail tip to the nail with the round shaped side near the cuticles first to not make wrinkles
- Remove unnecessary parts with the mini buffer filing downward
- Use gel lamp for 30 seconds to cure
It was a bit difficult applying the gel nail stickers. I had to put them on and take them off again to make sure they were in the right place. Also, make sure to cut off any excess sticker on the sides of your nails, but keep in mind that there is a little shrinkage once you put your nails under the gel lamp. Having applied these once, I’m sure I could apply them much easier a second time.
Even though there are different sizes, many of the gel nail stickers didn’t fit my nails. I guess I have wide nails… However, the material cuts easily! So, if the gel nail stickers are too small for your nails, I would recommend to use a larger one and then cut around it. Also, there will be extra! So, you could always paint some of your nails with whatever gel color you’d like and then use some of the gel stickers for other nails you don’t feel like painting. Lastly, it comes with its own mini file, so don’t worry if you don’t have one.
These gel nails lasted about one week. I wanted to see if they would stay on longer than a week, but on the morning of day 8, a big piece had ripped off. However, they did stay on while washing dishes, wiping down a kitchen counter top, and washing my hair. I’d stay away from the clear gel stickers since those tend to show dust stuck underneath and make your nails seem dirty not matter much you try to wash under the gel nail stickers!
These gel nail stickers were super easy to remove. Just lightly lift up the stickers from the edges until they’re fully off. Taking them off from the edges is the easiest way to remove them. You can use your nails to separate the gel sticker from your nail, or you could use a wooden cuticle remover to help lift the gel sticker off. I didn’t have any tearing on the top of my nails.
Final Thoughts and Recommendation
Overall, the Modi Gel Nail Design Tips worked well. I’d use them if I were going to a special event and didn’t want to spend the time or money getting my nails done professionally (not that I’d pay to get them done since I use my own gel kit). I’d definitely buy them again! I give this product a 7.5/10.
All of my reviews are based off of my own experiences. I’ll never give a high rating on a product if I don’t like it. Even if it’s a popular product, I’ll still call it like I see it.
